un/till: a farmhouse art collective event score portfolio
Join us from 6:00 to 9:00pm on First Thursday, April 3rd for the opening of un/till: a farmhouse art collective event score portfolio at Staircase Gallery.
In 2020, during the early days of the pandemic, Farmhouse Art Collective celebrated their 8th anniversary and the opening of their first Time Capsule by inviting others to take part in an event score print exchange. The prompt given was:
during days that time's erased ~ space become so oddly shaped ~ shall we see what lies beneath? ~ is there diff'rence 'tween ~ what's buried and what's sown ~ what's recovered and what's grown ~ un/till what's next how shall we go?
16 artists created work for the portfolio, which will be displayed along with new event scores that respond to the theme. If you are interested in writing a score for inclusion in the show, the priority deadline is Sunday, March 23rd (see below for more details).
<!-- Event scores are instructions for an action to be performed. When you follow the instructions, it creates an experience, and the experience is the artwork. An example from popular culture is the kids game *pretend the floor is lava. move through the room without touching the ground* -->
FAQ - I’m interested in submitting an event score!
What exactly is it you’re looking for?
We’re accepting new event scores that address the theme of un/till. While we’ll accept just the written words of the score, we encourage you to consider their visual presentation.
The text could be typed in a variety of different ways, hand-written, painted, carved, etc. with or without accompanying imagery or graphic design.
Do you have examples of event scores that are creatively presented?
Yes! You can see some examples here.
How do I submit my event score?
You can snail mail us your event score/drop it off in person, or we can print a copy from a digital file.
Drop off/snail mail to: Staircase Gallery at Tree of Liminality, 1301 3rd Street SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 52401, United States.
Digital files can be submitted through the form, or emailed to us at farmhouseartcollective@gmail.com.
When do you need it by?
The priority deadline for inclusion in the show is March 23rd, with an extended deadline of March 30th.
I missed the deadline! Is it too late to be part of un/till?
We may still be able to include at least the plain text of event scores submitted after this time in the exhibition.
All event scores we receive are eligible for inclusion in our online archive and future editions of our event score anthology.
